6 Simple Halloween Costumes

I am not really super into Halloween.  However, I do love dressing up in a fun costume (not a trashy one, eww!).  It has been a few years since I have dressed up for Halloween, but this year one of my friends has invited a bunch of people over to hang out and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.  I have been wracking my brain and searching Pinterest for some fun easy (and tasteful) costume ideas... here are a few ideas I came up with.

Shades of Pink... (for the home)

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month everyone seems to be sporting lately (including football teams).  If you're like me and tend to gravitate toward pink, this must be your favorite month of the year!  Everyone seems to be releasing pink products in support of the cause (check out my product round up here!).

All the fun pink products have inspired me to put together a few of my favorite pink items for the home!

Fashionable Lamps

The kind of lamp you have can make or break a room.  It is important to shop around for the perfect accessories when decorating a room and lamps are key.  Make sure you leave plenty of space in your budget for lightening, it can get pricey.  But, it doesn't have to.  Places like Target and Pier 1 have great fashionable lamps that won't break the bank.  And keep an eye on sites like One Kings Lane and Joss & Main, you never know what might pop up!

Travel Chic

The only place I've traveled lately is to football games in Gainesville.  So I haven't really had to worry about packing a carry on bag or a suitcase since when I travel by car I can hang up some of my clothes in the backseat.  But, when I pack for an airplane trip, I always try to only bring the essentials... however, most of the time I over pack!  But, when it comes to dressing for the trip I always make sure I wear shoes that are easy to take off during security and clothes that are comfortable and warm for the airplane.  Pixie pants or leggings are the easiest to wear through security since they don't have any pockets.  Bringing a small blanket or scarf to use incase the plane is cold is also a must!  I am always cold when traveling (even in the summer).

What rules do you always follow when planning travel outfits and packing?

Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Do you love anything and everything pink?  Well, now is the time to snag a few items from your favorite designers in PINK and help a great cause.  In honor of breast cancer awareness month, it seems like everyone is jumping on the pink band wagon and that's alright in my book.

I have put together a few of my favorite pink items with a cause!

Are you a fan of KIND bars?  Well, KIND has teamed up with BFFL Co to develop the Limited Edition Breast BFFL Bag.  It is a perfect get well gift for anyone you may know who is suffering from Breast Cancer and needs little cheering up.

Have you found any fun ways to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

Skinny Belts

I am a huge fan of belts.  I never, ever go out of the house in pants or shorts without a belt to ensure my pants stay at the appropriate level above my waist.  It is a huge pet peeve of mine when girls ruin an adorable outfit by letting their pants slip or even worse, letting their undies hang out when they bend over... what could be worse?  That's why it's key to make sure you wear a belt.  After all, they are another fun accessory that can transform a look.

Bookends

I love a stylish bookshelf.  Bookshelves are a great way to express who you are.  You can showcase all your favorite books, souvenirs, awards and style through your bookshelf.  Maybe you love dogs and want to decorate your bookcase with dog figurines.  Perhaps you have traveled all around the world and picked up a few momentous along the way and want to showcase those.  No matter your personal style you can always find a unique and fun way to style a bookshelf and showcase you.

A great way to add some fun to a bookshelf is with a fun set of bookends.  Good bookends can be hard to find, so it's smart to always be on the lookout for a fun set of bookends.

I also love this set of bookends from Z Gallerie! #GoGators

Do you have a favorite set of bookends or favorite place to shop for home decor?

Halloween Decorations

Truthfully I'm not really into Halloween.  I hate being scared and Halloween is all about the all things that go bump in the night.  But, I do love fall and decorating for the season.  Whether it's decorating the front porch with pumpkins or drinking out of a owl mug, simple fall decorations make the season so much fun.  But don't go over board, people can get pretty tacky with Halloween garb all over their house and you don't want to be that neighbor do you?

Twenty Four

Today is my 24th birthday.  Honestly, it doesn't feel any different than any other day.  But, it is fun to get presents and eat yummy sweets!  In honor of my birthday I thought I would share a few things I love from my childhood.

1.  Full House is still one of my favorite TV shows!

2.  I loved the Cheetah Girls books & movies.

3.  Zetus Lapetus of course Zenon Girl of the 21st Century was one of my favorite Disney Channel Original Movies.

4.  I attended two *NSYNC concerts and listened to the No Strings Attached Album a million times... Are you as excited as I am that the band now has a Twitter account?

5.  Lizzie McGuire was one of my favorite shows and I must admit I still love the movie!

6.  Have you been following all the excitement behind the new Boy Meets World sequel, Girl Meets World?  I cannot wait (even though it is going to be on Disney Channel).

7.  BOP and Tiger Beat have a website and social media???  I used to take pictures out of these magazines and decorate my room!

8.  Furby is back and now connects to your smart phone?  That's way cooler than my 1998 Furby!

9.  I still love my closet full of American Girl dolls, beds and accessories!  Did you have an American Girl doll?

10.  I only shopped at Limited Too... now known as Justice.

Are you a 90's kid?  What is your favorite 90's pop culture moment?

Chris Burch's Hamptons Home

Recently I have been watching Revenge, which of course takes place in the Hamptons.  The scenery, clothes and homes in this show are amazing.  The more I watch the more I want to visit the Hamptons someday.  Of course I had heard about the Hamptons prior to watching Revenge.  After all, it is one of the top vacation destinations for the rich and famous (particularly those who reside in the Northeast).  My recent fondness for the Hamptons reminded me that Chris Burch's Hamptons beach house was featured in Architectural Digest earlier this year and of course I had to share how fabulous it was with all of you!

Check out the remainder of the pictures of Chris Burch's home and read the Architectural Digest article here.

Have you visited the Hamptons?

Smoking Flats

Smoking flats are in my opinion the go-to casual shoe for fall.  There are literally millions of options to choose from.  Whether you prefer a simple neutral tan or black or want to stand out with a plaid or needlepoint, there is a smoking flat for every personality and style.

No Carve Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Images: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

One of my favorite parts about fall is all of the fun decorations.  In particular, pumpkins.  I cannot get enough of pumpkins... pumpkin candles, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin patches, do I need to continue?  Adding a few pumpkins to your home is an easy way to make your home feel like fall (even if the weather outside doesn't... like here in Florida).  Decorating a pumpkin is also a fun activity and a great way to let your personality show.

Have you decorated a pumpkin yet this fall?

Chunky Heels

I have never been a girl who can wear 4+ inch pumps.  Actually, I am trying to get better about wearing heels in general, I am totally a flats, sandals and wedges girl.  But, I am after all 5 foot 2 and I really should wear heels more often.   So, I am on a quest for comfortable and versatile heels.  I love how chic chunky heels look, not to mention that they're a bit more stable to walk around in all day.

Professional Bling

A few weeks ago I stopped by my local Kohl's and picked up the Elle Embellished Ruffle Shirt.  I love how it looks just like this one from J.Crew, but is long sleeve and more than half the price!  Such a bargain, don't you think?  I am a huge fan of button down shirts.  I am always grabbing one out of my closet for work, a night out with friends, or simply hanging out at home and running errands.  Button down shirts are a simple way to look put together without trying too hard, but the embellished collar on this shirt adds an extra layer of dressy and sophisticated bling, while not going too order the top with it. This shirt is the perfect go-to piece that can take you seamlessly from work to happy hour.  I love it tucked in with a skirt or untucked with a pair of ankle pants for work.  For only $25 this Kohl's find is very versatile and stylish.

Note: If you plan on snagging this adorable top, it runs extremely small! I typically wear a zero in button downs from J.Crew or Banana Republic, but had to go up to a 6 in this shirt.  It runs very small in the shoulders and arms, so I highly recommend ordering up a few sizes!

Check out this post for more on Gina Made It!

How do you incorporate embellished pieces into your daily style?  Have you tried this embellished top from Kohl's?
