Gleek.

It is no surprise to my friends that I love Glee.

When I was younger I did a lot of musical theater.  My elementary school would put on shows every year.  When I was in 6th Grade I auditioned for Gypsy at our local community theater and was cast as a small part.  It was so much fun!  It was very time consuming, but it was the time of my life.  Ever since then I was hooked on musical theater.  Every year in high school I participated in school plays and musicals.

So, when Glee premiered a few years ago of course I loved it!

Since I've been home this summer I've started watching The Glee Project on Oxygen.  I love it!  This week I've been catching up on all the episodes that I have Tivod and now I'm finally caught up.  It's such a great show.

If you haven't seen it you should start watching it.  The winner will be on Glee!

The Help.

The Help!

This afternoon my parents and I went to see The Help.  My mom went to the premiere with some of her college friends in Jackson, Mississippi, but Dad and I wanted to see it so we went on opening day.  It was such a great movie...I laughed, I cried, it was inspirational.  Although it was not a true story it was based on the way Jackson, MS was at the time.  I defiantly recommend seeing the movie as soon as possible or read the book.

The women of the Junior League had great style!

I loved the maids, Minny and Aibileen!

Back to School : Study Tips

Since school is starting in a week I figured I would share some study tips to help everyone prepare for the upcoming semester.  I am going to be a Senior this year...can you believe it? I cannot!  I don't want to graduate...well part of me does, but another part of me really enjoys school.  I know...I'm such a nerd.  Now that I've been in college for a few years I feel like I've finally got this whole study thing down pretty well.  So, here are a few tips I wish I had realized my first semester of college.

1.  Spend the first few weeks of school finding the best places to study on campus.  If you live in a dorm it may not be the best place to study, there are so many distractions and you defiantly want to be in a distraction-free environment when studying.  I personally really enjoy going to the library.  UF has many libraries on campus, but I personally prefer the main library (Library West).  Find your favorite place at your university.  It may be a library, academic building or coffee shop.  You may want to find more than one go-to study place (in-case your usual spot is full).  I also enjoy studying in my college's library between classes or if I don't feel like walking across campus to my typical spot.  Starbucks (on and off campus) is also a great place to study, they have free wi-fi and lots and lots of coffee (which is very important).

2.  Find the best way to organize all your class materials.  I use three-ring binders and 5-star notebooks.  I choose my supplies based on the style of the class, in some classes I type my notes on my Macbook or iPad (I am a very slow writer and a little OCD about my notes), but in other classes I write notes in a 5-star notebook.  I tend to write notes only if my professor does not allow laptops or if it's a math related class (math classes are impossible to take notes for on my laptop).

3.  Buy a planner.  My Lilly Pulitzer large agenda is the best purchase I have ever made.  I use it to keep both my personal life and school work organized.  I write my homework and test/quiz dates on it.  I hardly ever leave my apartment without it, I check it all the time.

4.  Go to class and take notes!  The most important thing you can do is to go to class everyday.  If you don't go to class you won't know what you're missing.  Many professors take attendance and if you have perfect attendance it may help you in the long-run...if you are borderline between two grades your professor may be more likely to bump your grade up if you have shown them that you attend class and care about your grade.  It's also very important to take notes and pay attention so that nothing on the exam hits you by surprise (most professors are not interested in tricking you, but rather testing your knowledge of the material and seeing if you payed attention).

Well that was just a little tidbit to help everyone start the year out well.

Good luck with the new semester!

Smith Hollis.

I mentioned a while ago that my cousin was pregnant... well she gave birth last week to a baby boy named Peter Smith Hollis II.  I cannot wait to meet him.  He is so cute!  I Skyped with him last week so I kinda met him.  But, I cannot wait to hold him and see him in person.  Everything went well and we are all so glad that Niki and Smith are home and healthy.  Now it's time for all of us to spoil him with presents all the time!  Baby clothes and toys are so cute... it's hard to resist buying everything.

Isn't this Ralph Lauren sweater adorable?

All of her best friends were there...Gabi, Kiki, Stephanie, Andrea, and a bonus surprise from Nashville...Kate!  It was so much fun!

Isn't Lindsay's sign awesome?! Gabi, Stephanie, Andrea and I made it...filled with some fun tasks for Lindsay to complete on her birthday night.

Channy Chan Man!

Happy 21st Birthday Chandler!

Today is one of my very best friends in the entire world's birthday.  Chandler Holmes is finally 21! He is one of the last of my good friends to turn 21 and it's about time he did.  Chandler is like my brother.  At times we fight like brother and sister, but in the end we will always be friends.  He lives in the same apartment complex as I do (so we see each other all the time) and we often spend many hours trying to keep each other focused at the UF library.  Freshman year Chandler went to school back home, but we would spend hours on the phone talking about life and politics, but of course he would visit all the time!

This summer Chandler and Sam (Chandler's girlfriend and one of my very best friends since elementary school) are at semester at sea.  Semester at Sea is a study abroad program through the University of Virginia where students live on a ship and travel around the world stopping at many countries along the way.  Chandler and Sam started their voyage in the Bahamas, but have been traveling through Europe since June.  They have gone so many places (I am incredibly jealous!).  Although, I spent a month in Italy and know that I am truly blessed for that opportunity...Sam and Chan went to Greece and Morocco on their journey...two places I desperately want to visit.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of my bestest friend Chan-Chan!
Oh My! We look so young.  This picture is from Senior year...when Chandler and I forked Sam's yard.
