My Summer Essentials

Striped Tee | I love a simple go-to striped shirt during the summer.  Pair it with white denim, your favorite chinos or tuck in to a skirt for a more tailored look.  A simple striped shirt is the perfect way to be comfortable and look cute all while staying cool in the hot summer sun.

Baseball Cap | Protect your face from the harsh summer sun in an adorable baseball cap.  Whether you choose to sport your favorite sports team or one of these adorable needlepoint hats from Tuckernuck, a good hat always comes in handy in the summer.

Turkish Towel | These Turkish towels from Design Darling are the perfect summer accessory.  If you are vacationing in the mountains, spending a long weekend at the beach or simply taking the afternoon off for a picnic in the park, these towels are perfect no matter the occasion.

Carry-On Spinner | How adorable is the monogram on this suitcase?  You certainly won't mixup your bag at the baggage claim when you use this beauty!

Sleeveless Work Dress | A simple go-to sleeveless dress is a must for work in the summer.  It is important to look good and stay cool during the summer months.

Lightweight Cardigan | If you're like me, it is 100 degrees outside, but inside you're freezing.  The cold air-conditioning in the office is at time unbearable, making me long for the humid warmth of the outdoors.  To keep comfortable during the summer, I bring a lightweight cardigan to work.

Straw Tote | Straw is one of my favorite things about summer.  Straw hats, totes, clutches, I love it all!  This tote from J.Crew is my daily go-to purse May-August!

What are your summer essentials?

8 Things To Do During July

July is officially here.  It is hard to believe it, but Florida has had a relatively mild summer so far.  We are accustomed to scorching temps, but so far this summer hasn't been unbearable.  Usually around this time of year I am dreading going outside.  Typically my co-workers and I are eating our lunches indoors and not on the nice deck outside our office.  (Check out this article on how to look flawless at work during the summer.) This year has been surprising pleasant.  Now don't get me wrong... to most people it's hot, but to us Floridians it isn't half bad!

So, now that summer is in full swing, and since the temps outside are nice and warm, it's time to take advantage!  Give three cheers to America on Independence Day and celebrate the summer by adding these 10 things to your to-do list this month.

1.  Treat yourself like a princess while celebrating Princess Diana's birthday.  (July 1)

2.  Pick out your best red, white and blue outfit for an Independence Day party.  (July 4)

3.  Binge-watch episodes of One Tree Hill (all 9 season are now on Netflix!) in honor or Sophia Bush's 33rd birthday.  (July 8)

4.  Re-read the American classic, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee in preparation for her new book, Go Set a Watchman.  (July 14)

5.  Shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! (July 17)

6.  Add yet another Kardashian/Jenner family TV series to your list and check out the premiere of I am Cait on E! (July 28)

7.  Stop by one of your favorite local parks in honor of National Park and Recreation Month.  Or you could always binge-watch a few episodes of the TV show on Netflix instead.

8.  Visit your favorite local ice cream shop, after all it's National Ice Cream Month!

Check out The Glitter Guide's full list of summer to-dos!

What is on your summer to-do list?

5 Fun Things To Do In August

1.  Build a bonfire for National S’mores Day on August 10th | Who doesn't love a good toasted marshmallow pared with melted chocolate and crunchy graham crackers?  It's even better if you get to sit my a warm bonfire with friends on a late summer night!  Check out this yummy recipe for s'more pop tarts.

2.  Go see Get on Up! the James Brown Story |  Summer is always filled with great blockbusters at the movie.  This month, make sure to check out the new movie, Get on up (watch the trailer here).

3.  Stock up on new office/school supplies | Back-to-school shopping season is in full swing, which means all the stores have stocked up on school supplies galore!  August is the perfect time to restock your office supplies or start fresh for the new school year.  It's also a great time to find the fabulous deals on home decor, paper products and clothes (and if your lucky... your state offers a tax-free period).  Follow my back-to-school board on Pinterest!

4.  Make watermelon lemonade | Yesterday was National Watermelon Day and even if you missed it, you can make up for it by making this thirst quenching treat on a hot day! Pinterest is full of yummy ways to make watermelon treats.

5.  Take one last weekend trip to see the ocean | If your like me and your lucky enough to live within driving distance of the ocean, then take a long weekend trip to the beach.  September means the start of many things.  Whether your a student or not, many organization or events slow down in the summer and the end of August means the start of things again.  Before things get crazy again, take a long weekend trip to the beach with friends or family.  You'll be glad you did!
What are five fun things you have planned for August?

Summer Gift Guide

I always procrastinate when it comes to buying gifts for friends and family.  I am constantly shopping online and seeing great deals, but rarely buying.  I typically wait to the last minute and then run to a local boutique or grab a gift card.  I highly recommend keeping a few easy gifts on hand for a last minute hostess gift or birthday party.  Wine or specialty food items are always great go-to hostess gifts, but many occasions call for more personal gifts.

In the fall I put together a few of my favorite gifts and I have decided to update the list for summer. Here are a few easy go-to gifts to grab last minute or keep on hand in a gift drawer.

Labor Day has come and gone, Starbucks has brought back the Pumpkin Spice Latte and school is in full swing (which also means school traffic is in full swing!).  Although summer is not officially over until later this month and the weather is still very warm, it's time to start transitioning out of summer sundresses and white and into fall colors and sweaters.  I am ready to get in the spirit of fall, so light layers are key.  Navy, khaki and dark green chino shorts paired with a lightweight button down shirt or sweater is an easy go-to pre-fall outfit.  While J.Crew Pixie pants are great for cool casual days and sleeveless dresses are easy to pair with a cardigan or blazer as fall nears.

Head over to long distance loving to check out the other fabulous link-ups for Friday's Fancies.

Summer Movies

One of my favorite things about the summer is all the great movies that come to theaters.  I love spending a Saturday afternoon at the theater.  This weekend I saw Lone Ranger (watch the trailer here).  It was a little long, but very good (Johnny Depp is always amazing!).  I highly recommend it!  I also recommend seeing The Heat and Monsters University.

Check out some of these trailers:  The Heat, Monsters University, The Way, Way Back, Despicable Me 2 and Turbo.

What movies have you seen recently?  Give me your recommendations in the comments.

Five Things I'm Loving For Summer

This summer I am all about all things nautical and bright.  If it's navy, red and white I love it.  Put an anchor on it and I'm sold!  Stripes... oh my! I love stripes.  Summer is such a fun time and the clothes are amazing!  Bright colors and fun patterns will brighten any rainy summer afternoon (and boy do we have plenty of those in Florida).

It has been quite a while since I did a top 5 things I'm loving post, so I thought it was time I did one.  {Check out Fall & Winter}

C Wonder Anchor Rings | Awikio Riviera Striped Dress | C Wonder Alligator Studs
Kate Spade Carmelita Wedges  | J.Crew Skimmer Pant

1. C Wonder Anchor Rings | I am totally in love with C Wonder's nautical anchor rings.  Whether I am dressing up to go out to dinner with friends or hanging out at home on a lazy Saturday, I always sport a ring on my right hand.  These anchor rings are perfect for summer.  You can choose to stack all three or wear them individually, but either way they're tones of fun!

2. Awikio Riviera Striped Dress | As soon as I found this dress I fell in love.  It combines all my favorite summer fashion trends... red, white & blue, stripes, and anchors! What could be better than that?  This is the perfect go-to summer dress.

3. C Wonder Alligator Studs | I am totally a studs girl.  I rarely wear big earrings, so these C Wonder studs are the perfect earrings for me.  Plus they are gators, how could I not love them?  These earrings are on my wish list to have before football season starts back up in September!

4. Kate Spade Carmelita Wedges | I am all about the wedges.  Whether it's for work or a night out with friends wedges are the most comfortable way to add a little style (& height) to your otherwise dull look.  Plus these adorable Kate Spade wedges have stripes and a bow, what could be better? (Find them on sale from Zappos now!)

5. J.Crew Skimmer Pant | I am totally obsessed with the J.Crew Factory skimmer pants.  They come in so many colors and are perfect for just about anything.  Dress them up for work with a blazer and heels or dress them down for errands on a Saturday with a tee and Jacks.  Add just about anything to them and you have a perfectly put together look (with little effort).

Now that you've heard all about my five favorite things for summer.  What are yours?  Tell me all about them in the comments below!
