Friday's Fancies : Road Trip.

Once again I am linking up with {av} from long distance loving for Friday's Fancies.  Since we're off on our southern road trip next week I figured I would put together an outfit perfect for a car trip {instead of a euro trip}.

Sweater | Shorts | Bracelet | Flip Flops

I always get cold in the car {and in restaurants}, so I like to pair shorts with sweaters during the warmer months.  It has been pretty hot everywhere this summer, but a lightweight sweater can still be comfortable in the summer.  Recently, the 7" J.Crew chino shorts have been my favorite go-to shorts.  I think they go perfectly with sweaters and long sleeve t-shirts for a cross-country trip.

riding the heat wave.

Has it been crazy hot where you are???  It's been super hot here.  I think the best way to stay cool during the summer is to wear a fun cotton sundress.  J.Crew and Ann Taylor LOFT both have great collections of summer dresses.  I love pairing them with Jack Rogers and fun jewelry.

A few summers ago my mom and I went to Mississippi to stay with my aunt for a little while, while she was going through breast cancer treatment.  It was so scary to hear that she was going to have a double mastectomy...  Luckily everything went well and she's doing great now!

While in Mississippi we went to this adorable boutique {mentioned here} where we found this fabulous Dogeared monkey necklace.  I got one for me and one for my aunt to make her smile and remind her that everything was going to be okay.  She kept the necklace with her during all of her treatments and took it to the hospital on the day of her surgery.  She said I was her "Monkey Twin" and I was so happy that she had something fun to help take her mind off being in the hospital.  Every time I wear this necklace I think of her and it brings a smile to my face.

I love the message on this one...

Make a wish & put on your necklace.  You deserve three cheers!  This accomplishment is only one of many.  Wear your necklace as a reminder of how far you've come! Celebrate!

Dogeared jewelry is so great because they all have great messages to go with the jewelry.  On a daily basis I don't like to wear necklaces that are too big, so these necklaces are perfect.

wedding season.

The first of my college friends is getting married in July!  It's so exciting, but kind of weird at the same time... I'm still getting used to the idea that I am old enough to get married.  EEEK!  But, weddings are so much fun.  I am looking forward to celebrating with Sarah Jeanne and her new husband!

Update Your Wardrobe with C Wonder.

C Wonder is a great site to update your wardrobe (and home) without the J.Crew or Pottery Barn price.  The site is full of preppy, fashionable items.  I think C Wonder gives you the style of J.Crew with just a little bit knocked off the price tag (which won my heart immediately).

I really love their preppy (and nautical) jewelry.  I think I need to order one of these knotted rope bracelets ASAP!

Another one of my favorite trends is tortoise shell.  These tortoise cap ballet flats are a great way to add a little bit of tortoise to any outfit.  These flats are perfect for work or school.  I love how flats can easily transition from professional to fun!

I love wearing sleeveless shirts with shorts during the summer.  It's perfect for the hot summer weather, but looks a little more put together than a spaghetti strap shirt.  I love that this one adds a nautical touch with seahorses.

Colored jeans are a huge trend right now and I love it!  However, I haven't quite jumped on the bandwagon yet... mainly because the price for some jeans is just a little too much for me (since we don't know how long this trend will last).  These C Wonder skinny jeans are much more affordable, but equally as stylish.

Vineyard Vines.

One of my all time favorite summer brands is Vineyard Vines.  I mention pieces from Vineyard Vines often.  I love that Vineyard Vines clothes and accessories are classic and preppy.  I wear their polo shirts all the time, they are great to such grab and have a quick put together preppy outfit.  I also love their sports team collection (they have some adorable Gator accessories).

blue and white.

When I saw this blue and white sundress from J.Crew I fell in love.  Blue and white are the perfect summer combination!  Blue is one of my all time favorite colors to wear and pairing it with white makes it perfect for summer time.  Pairing this dress with a straw bag and a monogrammed bracelet makes it a great preppy summer outfit.

turquoise jewelry.

I love turquoise jewelry.  In my opinion it never goes out of style.  It's great for every season.  Turquoise jewelry is a great way to add a pop of color to any outfit. 

I will wear pretty much any shade of blue, but turquoise is by far one of my favorites.  It goes so well with my blonde hair and blue eyes.

I love anchors.  They are so cute and fun.  My aunt was a Delta Gamma in college and their symbol is an anchor.  The nautical look is so fun for spring and summer.  Plus, it's so preppy!
