shades of orange

It is finally starting to cool off, well at least "cool" for Florida.  So I can finally start to wear my early fall clothes.  I am so ready to wear cords and scarves!  Right now, I am love all these orange pieces.  Orange is such a perfect fall color, don't you think?

How do you wear shades of orange?

designer look alikes : flats

If you have been a reader for awhile you know that I am a little obsessed with Kate Spade and Tory Burch.  I own a few pairs of Tory Burch flats (that I got at the outlet) and I do think they are worth the price you pay (for some of them... the limited edition ones are just insane!).  But, unless it's a classic pair like brown or black or something you know you'll wear all the time, I don't think it's smart to throw your life savings into a pair of shoes.

I am a huge fan of everything Kate Spade, but I don't get the opportunity to buy most of items that I like because of the outrageously high price tag.  Last spring I fell in love with these Kate Spade Tipsy flats with the pink cap-toe {worn by Bryce Dallas Howard in last years KS campaign}.  After all, a girl can never have too much pink in her wardrobe, right?  Plus, they are just so darn cute and trendy!  Naturally, they sold out quickly and did not go on sale (in pink).

But, don't worry girls, I have found a solution to our fashion dilemma.  One that will make your wallet and your closet very happy!  These Lucky Ballerina flats for $24.90!  Now, that's a price I can live with!!!!  Don't you think look so similar... you'll think twice next time you see a fancy designer shoe with a crazy high price tag!

Since I will be graduating college soon, I have been trying to think about buying items that can be used as "business attire".  When I first saw these Kate Spade Tabitha flats a few months ago {mentioned here} I fell in love with them.  They are trendy (like the ones above), but still appropriate to wear to work.  And, I think the classic tan and black combination looks so professional!  Yet, once again, the $225 price tag hit me like a ton of bricks and thus I did not purchase the shoes.  Luckily, Old Navy has a pair of $22 flats that look almost identical!

A few months ago I ordered these Lucky Emmie flats in pink.  They are great, because I did not want to spend $178 on hot pink flats, since I know I won't wear them all the time.  They are kind of stiff, but as I wear them they seem to be getting better.  But, they are still worth it since they were only $59!

Last year I purchased a pair of Tory Burch Eddie Ballet flats.  They were a little pricy, but they are the most comfortable pair of flats that I own!  I have a very difficult time find shoes that fit because I have a small foot... so Tory flats often work very well for me when others don't.  But, these Lucky flats are a fabulous alternative and will save your wallet!

Want to add a little bit of glitter to your life?  I recommend these Steve Madden Kinnetic Glitter flats for only $39.99.  Aren't they so fun?

Graduation Gifts.

I cannot believe so many of my friends are graduating in less than a month.  It's so insane!  I feel like I'm still seventeen sometimes.  When did we get so old?  Old enough to have lives and jobs and get married... EEEK!  It's not possible!  I am so glad that I have an extra semester before the "real" world.

It has been four years since I was getting high school graduation presents and I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by.  It seems like yesterday.

Here are a few ideas for high school graduation presents.

1. Umbrella
It seems silly, but an umbrella is an essential for every college student.  At most universities students have to walk a pretty good distance so it is very important to have a good umbrella.  It's also nice to have a cute one.  Old Navy, Lilly Pulitzer, Vera Bradley and Urban Outfitters all have great (and adorable) umbrellas.

2. Vineyard Vines College Tote
It's always great to get college themed gifts for high school graduation.  Graduates are very excited about the next phase of their lives and get very excited about anything in their college colors or with their university logo or mascot on it.  I got a lot of orange and blue and Gator themed gifts for high school graduation and I still use them all today.

3. Kate Spade Spreading Good Cheer Letterpress Cards
Note cards are always a great gift for just about any occasion.  People always need to write thank you notes or letters to friends.  Note cards always come in handy and a new graduate can never have enough note cards.

4. Lacoste Monogrammed towels
Monogrammed towels are a great gift.  I got some for graduation and I still love them.  They are adorable and add a touch of style to what is typically a boring item.  They are also great for anyone who will be sharing a bathroom, so they won't get their towels mixed up with another persons.

flats

I love flats, I wear them all time.  I am so short that I probably shouldn't wear them as much as I do, but they are just so versatile and comfortable.  I mean, really, do you expect me to march around the University of Florida campus in 4-inch wedges, I don't think so!  Since I two days a week this semester, flats are perfect to wear to the office.  They are comfortable enough that I can walk from my apartment to the office (all the way at the football stadium) and not be in terrible pain by the time I get there.  Now don't get me wrong, flats are not always the most comfortable footwear, they have no support.  But, they are classic and conservative, perfect for work.

I am absolutely in love with all the Kate Spade flats this season.  They have a variety of colors and I love the color-block style.  Kate Spade never stops making me love them more and more everyday.  But, if you can't afford the huge price-tag (which I cannot) Old Navy has some great alternatives.

I am also loving Brooks Brothers flats this season.  Aren't these yellow ones adorable?

orange and blue.

It's March Madness, which is one of my favorite times of year!  The Gators are doing great in the NCAA Tournament this year and have made it all the way to the Elite Eight.  I am so excited for the game this afternoon against Louisville.  If I was at the game, I would love to be wearing an adorable outfit like this one...

or this one...

Go Gators! Beat Louisville!

trend: blue dresses

I love blue.  Not only is it one of my school colors, but it has always been one of my favorite colors.  Blue is such a versatile color.  It goes with just about everything!  There are so many shades, so everyone can find the perfect shade for them.

pink.

February is such a fun month, I mean who doesn't love a month where the color of the month is pink!?  Even though I am not really into Valentine's day I do love all the pink, hearts and flowers that come with the holiday.

I love Philosophy and they always come out with new scents around the holidays.  They have quite a few new products for V-day this year.  It is a perfect gift for yourself or a friend who just needs some cheering up on Valentine's day.

Do you love pink as much as I do?

Have Bags, Will Travel

I always over pack.  Every time I go home for a weekend or a break from school, I pack my entire closet.  It is extremely unnecessary and it takes me forever to unpack when I get back to school, but I seem to still do it every time I go home.  I'm trying to get better.

I tend to use my Vera Bradley or Lilly Pulitzer totes, but I have quite a few other bags that I use for quick trips.  Here are a few bag ideas for weekend (or longer) trips.

cute, yet comfy

Ever just want to be comfortable, but are worried about looking like you just got about of bed?

I do all the time!  Whether it's a crazy day of homework at the library or just running errands...it is important to remember that you will feel better if you look better.  I hate feeling like I haven't gotten dressed all day.  It really slows down my level of productivity.  But, there are still days when I just want to be comfy.  Here are a few go-to ideas.

Pixie pants from J.Crew are perfect for the fall (or Florida winter) when you need something a little thicker than a legging, but still want to be comfortable.  I love the legging-look for comfy-casual-days, I think leggings are a cute alternative to the sweatpant.  Since they are a more fitted look they can definitely make your outfit seem more put-together.  I love this bright pink Lilly tunic with themThey are also great with just a button-up shirt or a cute tee with a blazer or coat.

Gift Guide :: Valentines Day

Valentine's Day is such a fun holiday.  Although I am not at all the mushy lovey-dovey kinda girl, I still love the fun decorations and cute items in all the stores.  I know Valentine's Day is a big day for all the couples out there, but that doesn't mean the single ladies (and gents) have to feel left out.  If you don't have a special someone to buy you a gift buy one for yourself or get together with one of your single friends and plan something fun to do.  Just because you're not in a serious relationship doesn't mean you can't enjoy the spirit of the holiday.

Whether you are looking for a gift for that special someone or are just looking to treat yourself here are a few ideas for the big day.
