3 Outfits to Transition to Fall With

It's still sweltering around here, but I am ready to pull out my pre-fall attire.  I am ready to put away my bright pinks, greens and white in favor of navy, brown and grey.  Every September I long for the weather of the north.  Florida is stuck in 85+ degree weather, while the rest of the country get to feel the fresh fall air.  It makes me long with a place with four seasons... mostly for my wardrobe!  In honor of the weather I wish I was having, I have put together three light layered looks for late September.  I am also featuring one of my favorite fall totes from Tory Burch.  It is so versatile!

What are you transitioning to fall with?

Fall Neutrals

It may not feel like fall for quite some time, but all the stores are beginning bringing out all the new fall items.  The best way to prep for fall is by stocking up on classic neutrals.  Navy, tan and brown never go out of style.  It's important to stock up on items that easily transition from season-to-season and year-to-year.  That will be money well spent!

I have put together a color board of my favorite fall neutrals navy, brown and tan to help you prep your pre-season wardrobe.

What are your favorite neutrals?

Fall Essentials

It's going to be quite a while before we get to experience fall down here in Florida, but boy am I ready.  I am ready to wear jackets, vests, tights and blazers without sweating or having to remove layers to go outside.  My office is pretty cold, so I tend to wear pants, sweaters and jackets on a regular basis, but when it's one-hundred degrees outside you have to be strategic about your layering.

All the stores are starting to transition their collections from summer to fall, so I have put together a few of my favorites for the upcoming season.

Everything You Could Ever Need For Fall

Schoolboy Blazer // Quilted Puffer Vest // Quilted Puffer Jacket
Black Dress // Plaid Shirt // Skinny Belt // Ballet Flats
Racerback Cami // Suede Wedges // Sunnies // Crossbody Bag // Skinny Jeans

What classic pieces will you be adding to your wardrobe this fall?

Smoking Flats

Smoking flats are in my opinion the go-to casual shoe for fall.  There are literally millions of options to choose from.  Whether you prefer a simple neutral tan or black or want to stand out with a plaid or needlepoint, there is a smoking flat for every personality and style.

No Carve Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Images: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

One of my favorite parts about fall is all of the fun decorations.  In particular, pumpkins.  I cannot get enough of pumpkins... pumpkin candles, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin bread, pumpkin patches, do I need to continue?  Adding a few pumpkins to your home is an easy way to make your home feel like fall (even if the weather outside doesn't... like here in Florida).  Decorating a pumpkin is also a fun activity and a great way to let your personality show.

Have you decorated a pumpkin yet this fall?

Fall Mini Skirts

Mini skirts paired with tights is one of my favorite fall looks.  Whether it's for work or a night out with friends, mini skirts are easy and versatile.  I am dying for a few new skirts that can work whether it's 80 degrees (in November) or 50 degrees and light weight fall skirts are just the thing.  I love pairing them with button down shirts for warmer days and turtlenecks and cable knit sweaters for much colder days.

How do you style skirts during the fall?

5 Fun Things To Do In the Fall

One // Carve a Pumpkin | Visit a pumpkin patch (or a local church that may be selling pumpkins) and pick out a few perfectly plump pumpkins to decorate.  Whether you want to get down and dirty and carve your pumpkin or decorate the outside, there are a million ways you can choose to make your pumpkin reflect who you are, while adding a little fall to your home decor.  I love all the adorable pumpkin decorating ideas I've found on Pinterest recently.

Two // Go on a Picnic | Whether it's with friends or your significant other, a picnic is the perfect fall outing.  Pack up your favorite lunch, grab a blanket and your ready to go.  It's the perfect way to spend a cool Saturday afternoon.  And don't forget to grab your favorite wine, beer or coffee to help keep you warm throughout the afternoon!  Here are a few fall recipes you may want to take on your picnic.

Three // Make Homemade Soup | I am a huge soup lover.  I order soup all, the, time.  Literally, even during 100+ degree Florida summers I will order a cup of my favorite soup for lunch.  However, once fall starts rolling around I love it even more.  The cooler temps make a hot bowl of soup even more enjoyable!  Williams-Sonoma's Butternut Squash Soup is one of my fall favorites.

Four // Drink a Pumpkin Spice Latte | Whether you have a long day of work ahead of you or perhaps a day of cramming in the library, a Pumpkin Spice Latte can make a drab day a little more fab. I don't think I could've survived long days in the library without trips to the first floor Starbucks.  Pumpkin Spice Chai's are also delicious!

Five // Enjoy the Fresh Air | Fall is a great time to take walks or sit on your porch and simply take in the fresh fall air.  The rest of the country usually feels falls gentle breeze a little bit earlier than we do in Florida, but that means when we finally do feel it, it's that much sweeter!  Fall is my favorite season.  I love the colors, the light sweaters and the fun holidays.  If you're lucky enough to be having fall weather where you live, don't take it for granted... go outside and enjoy it!

Fall Gift Guide

I am the worst procrastinator when it comes to buying gifts for friends and family.  I find myself shopping online and thinking something would be the perfect gift for a friend or family member, then chickening out and not ordering anything.  I then end up waiting until the last minute and getting stressed out searching for the perfect hostess, birthday or Christmas gift.  Living in a small town less than an hour from two larger cities means we don't have many options for boutiques or gift shops to run to when we're in need of a quick gift purchase.  It's always a good idea to keep a few easy gifts on hand in a gift drawer to grab when your in a pinch or invited to a last minute dinner party.  Wine or specialty food items are always easy go-to hostess gifts, but many occasions call for more personal gifts.

If you're like me and have trouble purchasing the perfect gift for an occasion, here a few items (under $100) that I think are great for many different gift giving occasions.

Fall Wish List

Banana Republic Sloane Riding Boot / Gigi New York Clutch
Tory Burch Sally Peep Toe Wedge / C. Wonder Two Tone Link Bracelet

I have been longing for fall the past few days.  My friends who live in DC and NYC have been seeing the beginnings of the fall season, but down here in good 'ole Florida it's still hot hot hot!  I have had to be creative with my "fall" looks this week and am guilty of wearing sweaters around my house just so I can pretend fall is here.  I am ready to pull out my trusty riding boots and tights, but since I am sure that is weeks away for me... I can only dream of fall leaves, pumpkins and cable knit sweaters and of course put together wish lists!

Head over to long distance loving to see what everyone is wishing for this fall!

What are you wishing for this fall?

Labor Day has come and gone, Starbucks has brought back the Pumpkin Spice Latte and school is in full swing (which also means school traffic is in full swing!).  Although summer is not officially over until later this month and the weather is still very warm, it's time to start transitioning out of summer sundresses and white and into fall colors and sweaters.  I am ready to get in the spirit of fall, so light layers are key.  Navy, khaki and dark green chino shorts paired with a lightweight button down shirt or sweater is an easy go-to pre-fall outfit.  While J.Crew Pixie pants are great for cool casual days and sleeveless dresses are easy to pair with a cardigan or blazer as fall nears.

Shift into Fall at the Office

I am slowly starting to long for fall.  Don't get me wrong, I love sunny summer days when I can wear my favorite sundress and sandals, but August can get pretty muggy in Florida... making me long for the cooler (less humid) days ahead!  I know it may be quite some time before fall graces us with it's presence, but a girl can hope can't she.

In anticipation of Labor Day coming up in a few weeks I have been thinking about how I will transition my wardrobe from summer to fall despite the warm (un-fall like) weather that is typical in Florida.  The easiest thing to do is to wear light layers and darker colors as fall begins to approach.

Decorating for Thanksgiving

Pottery Barn has some of the greatest decorations.  Target has already started putting out Christmas decor, but need I remind you... we have to celebrate Thanksgiving first!

I love Christmas decorations as much as the next person, but Thanksgiving is just a fun!  All the beautiful fall colors and cute turkeys, why wouldn't you want to decorate your home with all that?

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

OPI Germany Collection

Last week was my birthday, so I got a mani/pedi!  I decided to step way outside the box (for me) with the new OPI Germany collection.  I usually stick to colors in the red, orange or pink color ranges, but this fall I decided to try out a grey.  It is important to find the right shade of grey for your skin tone and since I am so pale I was really nervous about trying grey, but I am so happy I did!  I am in love with this color.

The color online (and below) doesn't look as grey as it looks in person.

Have you tried any of the new OPI Germany collection?

Orange Cords

Recently, I have been obsessed with my orange corduroy pants from J.Crew.  I have been dying to dress in fall clothes, but as usual Florida has been way to warm... until this week!  The past few days it has been in the 60s until mid morning and has only been highs in the low-80s.  Not quite fall weather yet, but really pleasant temperatures.

tweed jackets

I am in love with all the tweed at J.Crew right now.  Tweed is so fun and perfect for fall, don't you think? Adding a tweed jacket is a easy way to spruce up any outfit... Whether it's for work, class or the weekend tweed adds a little something extra to an otherwise dull outfit.

shades of orange

It is finally starting to cool off, well at least "cool" for Florida.  So I can finally start to wear my early fall clothes.  I am so ready to wear cords and scarves!  Right now, I am love all these orange pieces.  Orange is such a perfect fall color, don't you think?

J.Crew Factory Looks I Love

I love that the J.Crew Factory store is online.  J.Crew can get a little pricey and since I don't live near a J.Crew Outlet, the online store gives me the ability to stay up-to-date with their latest styles.  Plus, the Factory store always has a great selection of classic pieces.

Are you loving the J.Crew Factory online store as much as I am?
