Working Girl Shoes for Any Budget

Professional Shoes

I am still hunting for a full-time job, but (luckily) I am working part-time while applying for jobs so having a few go-to pairs of professional shoes is a must.  It is always nice to be prepared in case I am called for an interview or need to go to a networking event.

Whether your workplace dresses in formal business attire or a bit more casual I think it's always nice to have a few good pairs of closed-toe and peep-toe shoes for work.   Save the Jack Rogers for Friday!  Flats and wedges are great to have for days when you want to be a little more comfortable (or if you'll be walking in the grass).  I wear a 5.5 so I tend to have trouble buying shoes that fit properly.  I recommend ordering online from Zappos or Nordstrom if you are in the need of new shoes.  Both these sites are great with returns and offer free shipping both ways!  Order a bunch of shoes to try and send back, they won't mind, promise!

What are your favorite go-to professional shoes?  What are your favorite shoe stores?

Fall Loafers

I am always on the lookout for a good pair of shoes, especially ones that are comfortable too.  Loafers are a great trend for Fall that allow you to be cute and comfortable at the same time.  I think they are perfect to wear to class or a casual work day.  They look great with pants and can be paired with tights and skirts or dresses too.

Do you like loafers?  How do you wear them during the Fall?

Splendid Shoes!

I have the hardest time finding shoes that work for me.  I am kind of picky and I wear a 5 1/2 so a lot of shoes don't fit me.  Most smaller stores don't carry my size in-store so I usually have to order online.  A few months ago I ordered a bunch of shoes so I could see what worked and what needed to be returned.  In my great shoe search I found a brand I had not heard of before... Splendid.

I am in LOVE with this brand.  Their shoes are so cute and affordable. Check them out!

memorial day.

For Memorial Day I thought it would be fun to put together a fun summer outfit in red, white and blue!

I love this red sundress from Anthropologie.  It's classic and perfect for a cook-out or luncheon (plus it has fun detailing on the back).  Anthropologie is one of my favorite spots for fun summer dresses!

I paired the dress with these gold wedges from Lilly Pulitzer.  I bought these wedges last summer and have gotten so much use out of them.  They are the perfect height and are pretty comfortable to wear for long periods of time!

I think this Marc by Marc Jacobs Preppy Straw Canteen bag completes the look.  It is big enough to carry as an everyday bag, yet small enough to use for a special occasion.  I love that it is a crossboby bag, so it would be great for a day of sightseeing or shopping.

What are your Memorial Day plans?

seersucker saturday.

Since it's Memorial Day weekend, I figured it's a perfect time to bust out some seersucker.  I love wearing seersucker.  I wish I could wear it year round (since I live in Florida and it's always warm!), but sadly I like to (kinda) fallow the rules.

I love these tan Ivanka Trump 'Brisa' Sandals.  Even though they are a little tall for my liking (3 1/4 inches), they are classic and great for dressing up sundresses in the summer.

During the spring and summer I love caring pretty much any kind of straw bag! This Melie Bianco 'Anya' Clutch from Nordstrom is a great (reasonably priced) straw clutch that is perfect for church or a quick outing with friends.

I love throwing in anything nautical to complete the 'summer look'.  This anchor bead charm bracelet in ivory and blue from J.Crew is a perfect accessory for any summer outfit.

Brooks Brothers is (in my opinion) the all time best store for all things prep! This seersucker dress is the perfect thing to add to your preppy wardrobe.

Happy Saturday!

glitter.

Everybody needs a little glitter in their life!  Most people tend to reserve the sparkly outfits and glittery shoes for the Holiday season, but I think there are many occasions where wearing a little sparkle can be fun.  Whether it's just a little glitter lip gloss, shoes or an entire dress... glitter is a fun way to add a little something extra to your look.  Glitter pumps or glittery dress can be fun for a dressy night out with friends or a cocktail party.  A casual tee with a hint of glitter is a fun way to add a little sparkle to a causal night at the movies.  However you choose to do it, glitter... in the right moderation, can be tones of fun!

Aren't these GUESS pumps so much fun?

Lip gloss is the perfect way to add sparkle to even the most conservative outfit.

Whether you want a bold look, like these J.Crew flats, or a more subtle look, like these Anthropologie flats... glittery on your feet is the perfect way to dress up any outfit and make it fun!

How cute are the Crewcuts tees with just a hint of glitter?  Adorable!

Espadrilles

First off, can you believe it's already May 1st????  I can't!  It feels like it was just winter break and now it's already summer...

I'm very excited that I can now wear all my fun shorts and sundresses since it's been very warm here.  The warm weather also means it's time to break out my summer shoes.  I've already been wearing my white Jack Rogers sandals all the time!  I've also started wearing the blue and white striped espadrille flats I got on sale last summer from Zappos.com.  Espadrille flats are a great alternative to flats or sandals in the summer.  Plus, they are stylish and feel cool in the hot summer sun.

Espadrille Flats

Espadrille wedges are a fun stylish way to slightly dress-up any sundress or denim pants.  I love how they go so well with a Lilly Pulitzer dress for a Sunday church service or dinner with friends, but also look great with jeans for a movie night with friends.  Espadrille wedges are a versatile item to have in your summer wardrobe and I think they are a necessity for any preppy twenty-something (or older) to own.

Mother's Day Gifts.

It's almost Mother's Day and that means it's time to start thinking about what to buy your fabulous Mom.  I always have trouble finding the perfect Mother's Day gift.  When I was younger I would sometimes make a gift or my Dad would simply buy her a gift and put my name on it.  But, now that I am old enough to do my own shopping, I must search for a gift that my Mom will love and that I can afford.

Sometimes, it's hard to pick out clothes or shoes for someone else without knowing if it will work or not.  But, if you know that your Mom wears the same size in a specific item, then you can be pretty sure that your gift will work.  If you aren't sure about what size to get (or if your Mom wears different sizes depending on the item), then I would recommend getting an accessory item like jewelry or a handbag

Here are a few ideas for dear 'ole Mom.

flats

I love flats, I wear them all time.  I am so short that I probably shouldn't wear them as much as I do, but they are just so versatile and comfortable.  I mean, really, do you expect me to march around the University of Florida campus in 4-inch wedges, I don't think so!  Since I two days a week this semester, flats are perfect to wear to the office.  They are comfortable enough that I can walk from my apartment to the office (all the way at the football stadium) and not be in terrible pain by the time I get there.  Now don't get me wrong, flats are not always the most comfortable footwear, they have no support.  But, they are classic and conservative, perfect for work.

I am absolutely in love with all the Kate Spade flats this season.  They have a variety of colors and I love the color-block style.  Kate Spade never stops making me love them more and more everyday.  But, if you can't afford the huge price-tag (which I cannot) Old Navy has some great alternatives.

I am also loving Brooks Brothers flats this season.  Aren't these yellow ones adorable?

Yellow Box sandals.

Happy Monday!  A while ago my aunt introduced me to Yellow Box shoes.  They are wonderful, mainly because they are fashionable and affordable.  I am in love with their sandals right now.

Here are some of my favorite Yellow Box sandals.

tipsy skipper flats.

I love flats, but I have the hardest time finding ones that I like and that fit me.  I like flats that are simple and cute and these Tipsy Skipper flats are so adorable.  The style is simple and they come in a variety of colors and patterns.  I haven't ordered any yet, so I'm not sure if they are true to size or not.  But, these are definitely on my wish list.

jack rogers.

Jack Rogers are my favorite shoes.  They are super cute and easy to throw on for class, church or just about anything you have planned for the day.  Jack Rogers transition seamlessly from super-casual to dressy.  Jacks are great for spring and summer, but also (depending on the color) transition well into fall too (or winter in Florida).  I am dying for a pair of Jacks flats, but haven't taken the plunge and ordered any yet... but soon!

Back to School : Shoes

In just over a week I will be back on campus.  I am ready to get back to my routine, but not quite ready to get back to the library yet.  However, every year there is one thing about going back to school that I look forward to and that is SHOPPING! Back to school shopping for new shoes is always fun...here are a few shoes on my wish list.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!

I love shoes! {Well, how can you not?}

Unfortunately, most of the shoes for sale are either crazy looking or have 6-inch heels (which is just a little uncomfortable haha!).  Not really my type of shoes... so needless to say I have trouble finding shoes that fit my style (and tiny feet... I wear a 5.5!).

But, a great place to look for shoes is NordstromNordstrom is seriously my all time favorite department store, they are so accommodating.  They will go to the ends of the earth to make sure their customers are happy.  In July they are having their annual anniversary sale, which is the best time to shop there.  You can get next seasons items on sale before the season begins!  It's a great concept.

Well, if you're looking for some great summer shoes... here are a few of my picks for the season!

Jack Rogers 'Bahamas - Jelly' sandal

I love Jack Rogers, they are classic and go with just about everything during the summer.  These new Jack Rogers jelly sandals are perfect for the beach or pool.  It's perfect, now I can take my favorite sandals with me everywhere.

Kate Spade 'fawna' sandal

Clearly, Kate Spade new york is one of my all time favorite brands.  It's a little too expensive, but it's so cute! Sometimes it is worth the splurge or if you can find it on sale it's even better!

Tory Burch thong sandal

Tory Burch makes great shoes (and they usually come in my size!).  Her flats and flip-flops are so cute and versatile.  All of her shoes come in just about every color under the rainbow and are perfect for many different occasions.

Lilly Pulitzer Set in Stone Sandals

If you have been reading for awhile, then you probably know that I love just about anything from Lilly Pulitzer! Although, some of it is too expensive, I always go on the site and lust over it anyway.  These shoes are so cute, I hope I can find them on sale one day soon so they can make their way into my closet.

What is your favorite shoe store?
