Blue + White For The Home

If you have read my previous posts, you know that I love navy.  I wear it all the time.  Whether I'm going to work, out with friends, committee meetings or simply hanging out at home, I almost always have some hint of navy in my outfit.  Navy never goes out of style and is so versatile.  I love mixing and matching all my clothes to make new combos and having neutral staples like blue and white max it easier to mixup my daily looks.  Blue and white are also perfect for the home.  It never goes out of style and goes with just about anything you want to incorporate.  Whether you're mixing in fall decorations or bright spring colors, you're always safe with blue and white.

I constantly pin just about anything I can find to my blue and white board on Pinterest

Here are a few of my favorite's from Pinterest:

My favorite blue & white home accessories.

Weave Rug // Glass Candle // Table Lamp // Jar Candle // Pitcher
Desk Organizer // Counter Stool // Candle Sticks // Pouf

Do you incorporate blue & white into your home?

5 Things To Do During Allergy & Cold Season

I have been feeling a bit under the weather the past few days.  I was able to power through work Thursday and Friday and I am elated for the long weekend.  Last night after work, I came home and simply relaxed.  It was a nice change of pace after a busy week of traveling, working and Junior League.  Since I have been recovering from a cold, I thought I would put together some tips for what to do when you're feeling a cold coming along.  And, of course, make sure to wash your hands and use hand sanitizer to help avoid any colds coming on.

Get plenty of rest | This is a given.  When you're rundown, you are more susceptible to getting sick.  It is always important to get plenty of rest, but it is even more important during flu season.  Do not let your immune system get rundown!

Take lots of vitamin c | When you feel those flu symptoms coming on, add a glass of OJ to your morning routine or take vitamin c tablets.  This will help you combat sickness.

Catch up on your favorite shows | Taking it easy and catching up on some of your favorite shows is a great way to relax and unwind when you're feeling sick.  I love curling up in bed with my iPad and watching Netflix or Amazon Prime shows on a lazy Saturday!

Wear comfy clothes (tee//shorts) | Stay home, don't wear makeup and throw on your favorite comfortable outfit for a day of resting and recouping.

Stay hydrated | Staying hydrated is always important.  Drinking water is a great way to flush out any sickness that is trying to intrude!

And of course, a great way to avoid the flu is, of course, getting the shot (ugh... I hate shots!).

Labor Day Weekend Travel Essentials

Last weekend I took a few days off of work for a weekend trip to Louisiana.  It was so fun to spend four days visiting my aunt, uncle and cousins.  It worked out perfectly for me to take two days off of work for my baby cousin's first birthday party.  The trip was great, but too quick!

Since I've had travel on my mind and we have a long weekend coming up, I have put together a few of my favorite long weekend travel necessities.

5 Fun Things To Do Labor Day Weekend

One // Wear White | Whether or not you follow the "no white after Labor Day" rule or not, Labor Day Weekend is the last time to pull out your favorite summer look.  I am all about wearing white jeans or skirts after Labor Day, but only if you make it seasonally appropriate.  There is plenty of time during the spring and summer to wear your favorite Lilly top with your white jeans, so once September roles around, it's time to begin transitioning your wardrobe.  Check out my favorite spring/summer fashions.

Two // Drink Red Sangria | Sangria is such a refreshing summer drink.  Make a pitcher and share with friends for a fun end-of-summer treat.

Three // Host An End-Of-Summer Picnic | Invite your friends over and host an end-of-summer picnic.  Play games, barbecue and start the fall off with a bang!

Four // Savor Your Favorite Summer Treat | Make your favorite homemade summer treat.  Who doesn't love a refreshing homemade popsicle?  Grab refreshing summer treat and then head outside and enjoy the summer sun!

Five // Get Organized | Labor Day Weekend means the end of summer and back to all the regular meetings and events the fall and spring will bring.  Whether you're going back-to-school or simply back to your regular routine of events and meetings, post-Labor Day brings a busy fall for all.  Labor Day Weekend is the perfect time to do some pre-fall cleaning and get organized for the busy weeks ahead.  Follow my no more clutter board on Pinterest for all my favorite organization tips and inspiration.

Oh and don't forget to check out all the great Labor Day Weekend sales!

White Out this Labor Day!

I am all about white during the summer.  I love pairing classic white tops with dark jeans or bright colored shorts or skirts!  White is so versatile and easy to pair with just about anything.  Most people nowadays don't follow the "no white after Labor Day" rule, but I do try to begin to transition it out of my daily wardrobe after Labor Day Weekend.  I will stop wearing my white shorts and dresses and pair my white jeans with dark tops or sweaters for more of a fall look.

With Labor Day just over a week away, I have put together eight of my favorite classic white staples.

Do you follow the "no white after Labor Day" rule?

Fall Neutrals

It may not feel like fall for quite some time, but all the stores are beginning bringing out all the new fall items.  The best way to prep for fall is by stocking up on classic neutrals.  Navy, tan and brown never go out of style.  It's important to stock up on items that easily transition from season-to-season and year-to-year.  That will be money well spent!

I have put together a color board of my favorite fall neutrals navy, brown and tan to help you prep your pre-season wardrobe.

What are your favorite neutrals?

College Wardrobe Staples

The start of the new school year always feels like a great time for a fresh start.  Even though I have been out of school for almost two years now, I still feel like the end of August and beginning of the new school year is a great time for a new beginning.  Things slow down during the summer months.  Many organizations take time off during the summer while everyone is on vacation, so the summer is still a time to relax and unwind even for adults (without kids in school).

The new school year also means the end of summer clothing in all the stores and the start of all the cooler weather clothing.  Whether or not the weather will actually follow suit (which it likely will not in the South), the stores are moving on to long sleeves, jackets and boots.  And even though it may not feel like it outside, you better stock up now, because many of these items will go fast and end up backordered by the time you actually want to wear them!

To help you prep your wardrobe for the new season (and new school year) here are six items I recommend all college students have in their wardrobe.

1.  Embellished Sweater | A fun embellished sweater makes for a great wardrobe staple.  This sweater is lightweight and casual, but the embellished collar makes makes this sweater dressy enough to go from the library to your internship.  Just swap your jeans and sandals for a classic pair of black pants and closed-toed heels and you're good to go!

2.  Jean Jacket | Jean jackets rarely go out of style.  They are the eternal classic casual jacket! Throw it over a sundress for Sunday church or over chinos and a tank for class.  You can never go wrong with a classic jean jacket.

3.  Flared Skirt | Every college girl needs a few versatile skirts that can take you from summer to fall.  Solid skirts can easily mix and match with just about anything in your closet.  I highly recommend investing in a few lightweight skirts that can be paired with tights on cooler days.

4.  Button Down | Everyone needs a few button down shirts in their wardrobe.

5.  Ballet Flats | A year-round classic, ballet flats are the perfect accessory for every college girls wardrobe.  Pair them with jeans, leggings, shorts or dresses for the perfect way to transition from summer to fall.  These versatile shoes can take you from class to just about anywhere you need to go as a college freshman.  Whether you're running to a club meeting or grabbing lunch in the campus cafeteria, you will never go wrong with classic ballet flats.

6.  Classic Sandals | Every college students needs a pair of Jack Roger sandals.  They are the perfect sandal and go with just abut everything you could ever imagine.  I never could've imagined how much use I would get out of mine.

What are six staples in your wardrobe?

Fall Essentials

It's going to be quite a while before we get to experience fall down here in Florida, but boy am I ready.  I am ready to wear jackets, vests, tights and blazers without sweating or having to remove layers to go outside.  My office is pretty cold, so I tend to wear pants, sweaters and jackets on a regular basis, but when it's one-hundred degrees outside you have to be strategic about your layering.

All the stores are starting to transition their collections from summer to fall, so I have put together a few of my favorites for the upcoming season.

Everything You Could Ever Need For Fall

Schoolboy Blazer // Quilted Puffer Vest // Quilted Puffer Jacket
Black Dress // Plaid Shirt // Skinny Belt // Ballet Flats
Racerback Cami // Suede Wedges // Sunnies // Crossbody Bag // Skinny Jeans

What classic pieces will you be adding to your wardrobe this fall?

Twice

My mom and I recently did a quick clean out of some of our old clothes and sent them to Twice.  Twice allows you to sell your gently used clothing, shoes or accessories for cash and then resells them in their online store.  It is so simple! All you have to do is get a box, fill it with your old clothes (in great condition) and mail them to Twice.  The best part, shipping is free!  Oh, and if Twice doesn't purchase all your items, they will donate them to charity free of charge.

Shortly after we mailed our stuff to Twice we received an email letting us know what they would pay for the items we sold and which items they would not take.  The greatest part… we got cash for the clothes they would buy, and donated the clothes they wouldn't! It was a win-win!

Find out what brands Twice takes here.

Have you sold to Twice?
