madras.

I love madras season!  Wearing madras is one of my favorite parts of the summer.  I have a madras skirt and a madras sundress from J.Crew that I wear all the time, they are my favorite!  Vineyard Vines always has some great madras items.  Just Madras and Cape Madras are both brands that focus many of their items on the madras look.

The Straw Clutch

A couple of years ago I got an adorable straw clutch from Lilly Pulitzer.  It is one of the best purchases I've made in a very long time! I use it all the time during the summer.  It goes with so many different outfits, whether it's jeans and a cardigan or a sundress with heals, this straw clutch is so versatile.

Lilly Pulitzer always comes out with adorable bags for the summer.  This clutch is the perfect bag to use with a sundress or a pair of jeans.

This J.Crew Brompton straw clutch is a great clutch on-the-go.  It is so classic and easy to throw together with just about any outfit.

This Ralph Lauren Claridge Clutch is a nice darker option for a straw clutch.  I tend to wear a lot of white and bright colors so a light colored clutch tends to work better for me, but this RL clutch is so perfect for those of you who prefer a little darker handbag.

This Ted Baker clutch is perfection! How can you not love a straw clutch with a bow on it?!

For a more nautical look, this Lilly Pulitzer clutch is the perfect thing.  The navy and white stripes with the anchor emblem make for a great summer bag.

Let's be honest, I love all things Tory Burch!  I wish I could afford to buy everything TB comes out with.  This Tory Burch Woven Paten Clutch is great for the summer!

memorial day.

For Memorial Day I thought it would be fun to put together a fun summer outfit in red, white and blue!

I love this red sundress from Anthropologie.  It's classic and perfect for a cook-out or luncheon (plus it has fun detailing on the back).  Anthropologie is one of my favorite spots for fun summer dresses!

I paired the dress with these gold wedges from Lilly Pulitzer.  I bought these wedges last summer and have gotten so much use out of them.  They are the perfect height and are pretty comfortable to wear for long periods of time! 

I think this Marc by Marc Jacobs Preppy Straw Canteen bag completes the look.  It is big enough to carry as an everyday bag, yet small enough to use for a special occasion.  I love that it is a crossboby bag, so it would be great for a day of sightseeing or shopping.

seersucker saturday.

Since it's Memorial Day weekend, I figured it's a perfect time to bust out some seersucker.  I love wearing seersucker.  I wish I could wear it year round (since I live in Florida and it's always warm!), but sadly I like to (kinda) fallow the rules.

I love these tan Ivanka Trump 'Brisa' Sandals.  Even though they are a little tall for my liking (3 1/4 inches), they are classic and great for dressing up sundresses in the summer.

During the spring and summer I love caring pretty much any kind of straw bag! This Melie Bianco 'Anya' Clutch from Nordstrom is a great (reasonably priced) straw clutch that is perfect for church or a quick outing with friends.

I love throwing in anything nautical to complete the 'summer look'.  This anchor bead charm bracelet in ivory and blue from J.Crew is a perfect accessory for any summer outfit.

Brooks Brothers is (in my opinion) the all time best store for all things prep! This seersucker dress is the perfect thing to add to your preppy wardrobe.

Do you have big Memorial day weekend plans? If you do, I am super jealous! I will be heading home for the weekend, but nothing big and exciting planned. 

Whether you're just grilling in the back yard, barbequing at the beach or throwing a big extravaganza, it's always fun to have great party accessories.

Start by finding fun plates, cups, napkins or place mats.

Are you a fan of the ikat trend? I am in love with anything ikat.  It's great to wear in the spring and summer or decorate your house or apartment with ikat!  It's a fun pattern that will brighten up any outfit or room.

I love this ikat dress from Brooks Brothers.  It's perfect to dress up or down during the summer.  You can wear it with flip-flops to the beach or heels for a lunch date with friends.  I paired it with a Lilly Pulitzer clutch and Sperry Top-Sider wedges... I think it's a fun outfit for brunch with friends or a fun summer party!

Kate or Pippa?

Those of you who have been reading for a while know that I love Princess Catherine and the royal family.  HRH Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has such wonderful style and always looks wonderful in everything she picks.  Her sister Pippa Middleton has also become a public style icon and recently caught the public's eye when she stepped-out in the same little number her sister wore to announce her engagement to Prince William...

floppy hats.

I used to not be a hat person, at all!  But, recently I've fallen in love with all kinds of hats.  Baseball caps are great for blocking your face from the sun, but floppy hats are just plain fun!

Big colorful hats aren't just for the Derby!  I wear this straw hat from J.Crew to the pool and I recently wore it to an art festival at home.  I think floppy hats are fun for all sorts of occasions.

When I saw this blue and white sundress from J.Crew I fell in love.  Blue and white are the perfect summer combination!  Blue is one of my all time favorite colors to wear and pairing it with white makes it perfect for summer time.  Pairing this dress with a straw bag and a monogrammed bracelet makes it a great preppy summer outfit.

organize, me : side table

I think it is very useful having a side table by my bed (or two).  Having adequate lighting by your bed is also important.  At home I have a side table with a shelf and drawer.  I keep books on the shelf (aka my Harry Potter collection) and the drawer is full of miscellaneous things.  It's also handy having a place to sit a glass of water and my iPad (or book).
