It's only a few days until spring break, so it's time to start thinking about what to pack. I will be going to Sarasota for part of the week and then I'll be at home for the rest of my break!
Here are a few essentials for packing for spring break.
They are everywhere! I have a few striped shirts in my wardrobe and I get so much use out of them. They are so cute and comfortable. J.Crew has a lot of stripes in their collection right now, but I also found some great options at Anthropologie and Lilly Pulitzer.
Only one week until my spring break! Which means...swimsuit time!
I love spring and summer, but seriously who doesn't?!
Sitting by the pool, going to the beach, hanging with friends...what could be better?
I am by no means a sun goddess! I am usually hiding from the sun, I burn so easily! But, I do love the beach and sitting by the pool. It's always nice to have a go-to swimsuit, whether you're hanging out with friends or babysitting, sometimes it's nice to have a one-piece suit on hand. J.Crew and Lilly Pulitzer always have quite a selection of suits and Target has a wide variety of more affordable options.
I love wearing scarves during the fall, winter and spring. I think scarves are the perfect way to make a dull outfit into a fabulous one. I love to add a bright scarf to an otherwise boring outfit. Lilly Pulitzer Murfree scarves are adorable and the bright patterns are perfect for spring. Anthropologie and J.Crew also have some fabulous options.
I will be studying a lot this week and I'm pretty much going to be in the library all day...other than during my class time.
Four things to make a trip to the library more bearable, Lilly style.
1. Lilly Pulitzeragenda. I am obsessed with my large Lilly agenda. I don't go anywhere without it. I love writing my assignments and exams dates in bright colors to coordinate with the fun Lilly patterns. It helps make long hours of studying a little brighter.
2. Lilly Pulitzerthermal mug. It is always nice to bring your own mug to Starbucks (and you get a discount!). I try to bring my own mug, so my coffee stays hot longer...and they are super cute!
3. Lilly Pulitzertumbler. It's always smart to bring a tumbler or water bottle with you to the library. You never want to be dehydrated while studying or doing homework.
4. Lilly Pulitzernotebook. I use my Lilly mini-notebook to write my homework assignments and to-do lists. It's nice to have a list of what I need to do and when I need to do it. and this notebook works perfectly!
What do you take with you when you have long study sessions?
I love my mom (well, who doesn't). When I'm not locked away in the library, I talked to my mom at least three times a day. I call her on my way to class, when I'm driving and when I'm just bored. She is always there for me, what good mom isn't?! I am blessed to have supportive and loving parents, even though they drive me crazy sometimes (whose don't...).
Today is her birthday. I am home for the weekend and we are going to dinner at Texas Cattle Company tonight. It should be a lot of fun. I'm so glad I've been able to come home for her birthday since I've been in college.
Mom and me three years ago at a Valentine's Day party at our house.
I love blue. Not only is it one of my school colors, but it has always been one of my favorite colors. Blue is such a versatile color. It goes with just about everything! There are so many shades, so everyone can find the perfect shade for them.
Pinterest has inspired me to try new ways to do my hair. I am horrible at doing my own hair (I can straighten and scrunch... that is about it). But, I hope to learn a few new styles. Here are some that I've found that I would like to learn how to do.
Whitney Houston. America will always love you. Your music will live in our hearts forever. You will not soon be forgotten. I cannot believe it is Grammys day and you are not going to be there sharing your fabulous voice with the world.
February is such a fun month, I mean who doesn't love a month where the color of the month is pink!? Even though I am not really into Valentine's day I do love all the pink, hearts and flowers that come with the holiday.
I love Philosophy and they always come out with new scents around the holidays. They have quite a few new products for V-day this year. It is a perfect gift for yourself or a friend who just needs some cheering up on Valentine's day.
I always over pack. Every time I go home for a weekend or a break from school, I pack my entire closet. It is extremely unnecessary and it takes me forever to unpack when I get back to school, but I seem to still do it every time I go home. I'm trying to get better.
I tend to use my Vera Bradley or Lilly Pulitzer totes, but I have quite a few other bags that I use for quick trips. Here are a few bag ideas for weekend (or longer) trips.
I love football, but I don't really follow the pros. I am a college girl all the way. So, the Super Bowl doesn't really mean much to me. To be honest I only watch for the commercials and the half time show (unless Tampa Bay or New Orleans are playing and even then I only kinda care). But, the BCS Championship game...now that's a game I'll watch, even if my Gators aren't in it.
Last night, I was not in the mood to really watch the game. Normally, I will at least watch it while playing with my phone or reading a magazine, but last night I didn't even do that much...I did homework and forgot when the game even started. But, I did watch some...mainly for the commercials and half time show.
As an Ad major I had to know what a few of the commercials were otherwise I would be failing as a student. Here are a few that I thought were attention grabbing.
I love the play off the classic movie, Ferris Buller's Day Off. Great concept!
Doritos always puts out great ads. I love this one!
This one clearly wins because David Beckham is in it...and I think it grabbed the attention of any ladies watching the game last night.
This one is just cute! I love anything with dogs in it.
Half time with Madonna was okay, but I prefer the half time of 2001. It is my all time favorite Super Bowl half time show!
What did you think of the Super Bowl ads? Half time?
Ever just want to be comfortable, but are worried about looking like you just got about of bed?
I do all the time! Whether it's a crazy day of homework at the library or just running errands...it is important to remember that you will feel better if you look better. I hate feeling like I haven't gotten dressed all day. It really slows down my level of productivity. But, there are still days when I just want to be comfy. Here are a few go-to ideas.
Pixie pants from J.Crew are perfect for the fall (or Florida winter) when you need something a little thicker than a legging, but still want to be comfortable. I love the legging-look for comfy-casual-days, I think leggings are a cute alternative to the sweatpant. Since they are a more fitted look they can definitely make your outfit seem more put-together. I love this bright pink Lilly tunic with them. They are also great with just a button-up shirt or a cute tee with a blazer or coat.
Valentine's Day is such a fun holiday. Although I am not at all the mushy lovey-dovey kinda girl, I still love the fun decorations and cute items in all the stores. I know Valentine's Day is a big day for all the couples out there, but that doesn't mean the single ladies (and gents) have to feel left out. If you don't have a special someone to buy you a gift buy one for yourself or get together with one of your single friends and plan something fun to do. Just because you're not in a serious relationship doesn't mean you can't enjoy the spirit of the holiday.
Whether you are looking for a gift for that special someone or are just looking to treat yourself here are a few ideas for the big day.
Well, there is a new dancer in town. Brook has left the team to be a cheerleader, so Abby Lee Miller brought in a new girl to take her place. The crazy argument's between the moms never ends and of course Abby Lee continues to scream and belittle these poor young girls. But, of course the drama is why we watch it.
For Christmas my aunt gave me a Clarisonic. My mom and aunt both have them and I had read a lot about them online, so I was really excited to have my own. I have always had trouble with my skin. I have very sensitive skin. I have to be very careful about what products I use.
I have been using the Clarisonic once a day (at night) with Philosophy Purity face wash. This skincare routine seems to really be helping a lot. I have less blackheads and much smoother feeling skin. It also helps a lot with dry skin.
