Working Girl Bags

I am all about the fashionable alternative to the briefcase.  Briefcases are so 1990, don't you think?  These days a working girl needs an adorable tote that can take her from the coffee shop, to the office, to dinner/drinks with friends.  The perfect working girl tote fits everything a young professional needs to get through the day.  AKA - phone/iPad/laptop charger, makeup (for mid-day touch-ups of course!), snacks (candy, fruit, whatever your preference you'll be happy you packed a snack!), headphones, wallet, papers/books/whatever you need to take form work to the office (i.e. planner, notepads, etc.), and whatever else that may help you get through the day a little easier.  Your work bag is like a mini traveling office, so it's important to pack what you need!

Remember this post?  Well I found this bag at T.J. Maxx and now it's my go-to work tote.  But, I'm still on the lookout for another one... maybe a little bit smaller, a cross between a tote and a purse perhaps!

What is your go-to work bag/purse?  Any suggestions for my purse dilemma?

Working Girl Shoes for Any Budget

Professional Shoes

I am still hunting for a full-time job, but (luckily) I am working part-time while applying for jobs so having a few go-to pairs of professional shoes is a must.  It is always nice to be prepared in case I am called for an interview or need to go to a networking event.

Whether your workplace dresses in formal business attire or a bit more casual I think it's always nice to have a few good pairs of closed-toe and peep-toe shoes for work.   Save the Jack Rogers for Friday!  Flats and wedges are great to have for days when you want to be a little more comfortable (or if you'll be walking in the grass).  I wear a 5.5 so I tend to have trouble buying shoes that fit properly.  I recommend ordering online from Zappos or Nordstrom if you are in the need of new shoes.  Both these sites are great with returns and offer free shipping both ways!  Order a bunch of shoes to try and send back, they won't mind, promise!

What are your favorite go-to professional shoes?  What are your favorite shoe stores?

xoxo

Working Girl x 4

-->Since graduating from college almost two months ago (eep… time flies!), I have been in the hunt for “professional” clothes, shoes and bags.  When I was in college (read: two months ago) I never really saw the point of collecting pieces that could be useful when I began working.  I always told myself I didn’t need that or that I had plenty of clothes I could wear to work.  While that is partially true, I find myself struggling to find the perfect outfit to wear.

During my last two years of college, I worked in the University Athletic Association.  The office was pretty casual (read: chinos and a cardigan).  And since I was a student and had to walk to work each day, I was able to dress pretty casual for work.  They understood that I had to walk a long distance in the very warm Florida weather…  As long as I wasn’t wearing shorts or jeans, I was usually okay.  But, I have quickly learned that is not always the case.

I am currently working four part-time jobs (while hunting for the right full-time position).  Each of these jobs requires a different level of business-attire.  Two of them are pretty casual (read: jeans are acceptable) and the other two require a more typical business look (or at least business casual).  That being said, I am in the search of my perfect go-to business look.  I am slowly adding pieces to my wardrobe, but need to do a bit more shopping to have a better business-appropriate closet.

Here are a few of my current go-to pieces.

J.Crew Schoolboy Blazer in Navy | J.Crew Factory Skinny Calf Hair Belt | Tory Burch Reva Flats
Loft Ponte Ankle Pants | Vince Camuto 'Elmay' Pump
For those of you working girls, any tips on style in the work place?
