Back to School :: Wardrobe

Now that school is rolling around I am starting to miss the excitement of back to school time.  Back to school shopping and tax free days are the best!  I always loved getting new clothes, school supplies and reorganizing my room in preparation for the new school year.  It's so nice how you get to start fresh each school year.  Getting to class extra early with a brand new notebook and pen ready to learn... what could be better than that?  The beginning of the school year is so fun.  You get to see all your friends that you may not have seen in a while and meet news ones and all without the stress of midterm exams!

Although it has been a few months since I graduated (I cannot believe how fast time flies!), it feels like I should be preparing for back to school again.  I thought I would share a few items that I think every new college Freshman should have in her wardrobe.

1. Go-to Oxford Shirt | Every college girl needs a go-to oxford shirt.  Oxford shirts are the perfect way to look put together even when you woke up 30 minutes late for class.  A simple Oxford Shirt can be paired with jeans or shorts for class or dressed up for work or an internship.  The possibilities are endless!

2.  A Reliable Lightweight Jacket | It's always smart to have a lightweight raincoat or windbraker in your wardrobe.  With the unpredictable Florida weather (and other places too), you never know when a thunderstorm might pop-up.  It's always better to be prepared.  Having a go-to jacket in your closet will make rainy days a little bit better.  This

3.  Jack Rogers Sandals | I don't know about other places, but in the South Jack Rogers Sandals are everywhere!  All over the University of Florida campus you will see girls wearing their favorite pair of Jacks.  Jacks are the perfect sandal and can be dressed up or down for just about any occasion.

4. A Fashionable Tote Bag | Every college girl needs a fashionable tote to carry to and from class, the library and meetings.  It is important that the bag is able to withstand just about anything that might come it's way.  You never know when you'll be in the middle of a late-night cram session when the guy next to you spills his coffee all over the table.  Yikes!  Good thing your bag can take it.  College life is unpredictable and hectic make sure you have a go-to tote or backpack that can keep up with your new crazy college life!

5.  Classic Mini Skirt | A classic mini skirt can take a girl from class to an internship and then out to dinner with friends.  I love this scalloped mini from J.Crew.  It can be worn a variety of ways.  I think this will be a Fall staple in many girls wardrobes this season, don't you?

Layered In Color

One Kings Lane Sale

One Kings Lane is quickly becoming one of my favorite daily visits.  They have some awesome home decor and fashion accessories sales!  Their sales typically only last a few days and items are in short supply so if you find something you must-have you better nab it fast.  This week they are having a few sales themed around specific bedroom styles... Down to Earth, Bold & Graphic and my favorite Layered in Color.

Do you shop One Kings Lane's sales?

Kiel James Patrick Seafarer Collection

Have you seen the new Kiel James Patrick Seafarer Collection?  I am thrilled that KJP has started making apparel in addition to his already amazing line of bracelets, belts and accessories.  I am a huge fan of a good button-down Oxford Shirt.  I wear button-downs year-round so I am always in the market for a new one and these are certainly on my wish list (along with everything on KJP's website and Sarah's blog!).  The new KJP Oxford Shirts come in blue and green and are available for both men and women.

KJP also has a great collection of scalloped Oxford's!

Are you a fan of the new KJP Seafarer Collection?  Which color is your favorite?

Back to School :: Desks

School is right around the corner so now is a perfect time to make sure your desk is in tip-top shape.  A well organized desk is key to a student's success.  It's important to have a comfortable chair, drawer or cabinet space to store all your supplies and enough space to spread out your books and supplies.  In my room at home (AKA my parents house) I have a desk from PB Teen that I got in high school.  It has two drawers on the left side and one drawer and a shelf on other right side.  The desk is about the size of the one pictured above, but I could totally use more space sometimes.  In college I loved studying in the library or at my kitchen table.  A small desk was not sufficient space.  I always preferred to spread out all my study materials (laptop, notebook, notecards, textbook, iPad, pens, planner).

If you're living in a dorm room chances are your room will come furnished with a bed, desk and side table.  If it doesn't or if you're living in an apartment with limited space, this small desk from PB Teen is perfect for you!  I love how sleek and simple it looks.  A very classic and sophisticated look.

Now that I have graduated college and am no longer in school (at least for the time-being), I no longer have 6+ hour long study/homework sessions where I'm stuck at a desk (check out my college desk) or in the library.  However, I am working for an local company where I do have to do some work from home (plus blogging) so it is still important for me to have a functional desk/home office.  In a perfect world I would have a home office like the one above... maybe one day!

Organizing a dorm room can be difficult.  After all you have two of everything!  Making sure that each roommate has enough space to study, get ready and relax can be extremely difficult... and we all know how much stuff (and clothes) college girls have!  Try to layout your furniture in the more efficient way possible to give everyone as much room as possible before unpacking.  Think about what you'll be using the room for... it will be your bedroom, study, living room, kitchen and dressing room for the next  8-10 months so do your best to set it up efficiently and logically (plus you won't want to move everything once you've unpacked).

Check out 5 Ways to Organize a Dorm Room for some great tips!

Decor 2 Ur Door is a great site for girls going off to college for the first time in August.  It's a great resource for you and your roommate to be able to look through all the options online and decide on bedding, decorations and more without having to be in the same city (perfect if you don't know your roommate before you move-in).

Are you living in a dorm or apartment this year?  I want to hear from you... How are you decorating your study space?

Jackie O!

The Style Icon

Today would have been Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' 84th Birthday.  The remarkable woman taught us all so much about style and class.  She is the classic prep and she wore Jack Rogers!

Why do you admire Jackie O?

I am dying for a cute little workspace like one of these.  Hopefully I will be able to move into an apartment or house of my own soon and will be able to decorate a cute workspace.  I do a lot of work from home so the more comfortable and efficient the home office the better.

How fab are these office inspirations?

Throwback Thursday: Mary-Kate & Ashley

As a kid I absolutely loved Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (correction: I still love them!).  I had all of their movies on VHS and watched them over and over.  I wanted to solve crimes by dinner time and ride scooters with French boys in Paris.  I mean, how could you not want their fabulous lives?  Oh and how awesome would it be to have a twin!  Just about everything about this pair mad a kid jealous of them.  I started watching their video series when I was in Pre-K and I was hooked ever since.

Who didn't want to me a kid crime solver!  The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley and You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's videos were totally my fave as a kid.

I stuck with Mary-Kate and Ashely through think and thin and loved every minute of it!

Oh and who didn't love their TV series!

Are you a fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley?  What's your favorite MK & A movie?

Girl Meets World

Who else is excited to see Cory and Topanga again?  I am counting down the days until the new Boy Meets World sequel, Girl Meet World premieres.

Cory and Topanga went from this...

To this...

Right before our very eyes. And now everyone's favorite couple is back on the small screen for the new Disney Channel series, Girl Meets World.

And who might you ask is playing their children...

Rowan Blanchard plays Riley, Cory and Topanga's daughter who is in the 7th grade.  Her best friend, Maya Fox, is played by Sabrina Carpenter.  Oh and Cory and Topanga have a teenage son named Elliott, played by Teo Halm.

Are you going to check out the Boy Meets World sequel?

Baby Cambridge

This afternoon the world got it's first glimpse at the newest member of the British Royal Family, Baby Cambridge.  The birth of the future King of England was the most anticipated birth since his father's, the Duke of Cambridge, thirty-one years ago.

Although I had to work, I did get to watch the grand reveal of the newborn Royal with his parents.  The three greeted members of the press and spoke to reporters briefly before heading back inside Saint Mary's Hospital and heading off for their new life as a family of three.

Early in the day Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowls visited their new grandson at Saint Mary's.

It was no surprise to see Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, in attendance for this joyous occasion.  These commoners aren't so common anymore with a future King in their family!

Food Truck Rally in Munn Park

Once a month the Tampa Bay Food Trucks come to Downtown Lakeland.  If you live in a big city, you are probably very familiar with food trucks (or if you are a fan of The Great Food Truck Race on Food Network ).  If you're not aware of food truck rallies... a bunch of food trucks gather in one area and people gather around to eat from whichever truck they choose.  This month I went with a few of my friends to the Rally in Downtown Lakeland.  It was tons of fun!  We walked around viewing each of the trucks and seeing what they had to offer.  After much debate we ended up eating Mexican food... lots of yummy tacos and quesadillas!

I had to snap a photo of the adorable Yum Yum Cupcake Truck.

Have you been to a Food Truck Rally?

Rue La La Beachy Accent Pillows

{1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}

I love a good accent pillow.  An easy way to spruce up a room and add a bit of seasonal fun is to simply switch out or add accent pillows.

Do you like summery accent pillows?

You Got it Dude!

You've gotta love Michelle Tanner (aka Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen)!

Such a cutie!

Look at the cast now (minus MK & Ashley)... 25 years after Full House began airing in the 1980s.  I would love if this crew did a reunion special or movie! How fab would that be!!!!

I love watching Full House reruns on Nick at Nite or early in the morning (it airs 6-7am).  It's such a uplifting way to begin or end a day.  How fabulous is the Jesse and the Rippers reunion on Jimmy Fallon?  Pretty much the greatest reunion ever!

Are you a fan of Full House?

A Look Back at Duchess Kate's Maternity Style

With the Royal Birth right around the corner (#GreatKateWait), I thought I would pull together a few of my favorite Duchess Kate maternity looks.

Duchess Kate wore a fabulous green coat for St. Patty's Day in March.

The Duchess wearing plaid to an event in Glosgow in April.

How fabulous is this Peter Pan Collar dress from Topshop?  Duchess Kate is flawless in this black and white number.

I love this light blue dress with suede pumps!  Fab!

Which Royal maternity look is your favorite?
