JT.

In elementary and middle school I had a bit of an unhealthy obsession with *NSYNC.  Once I even listened to their music for almost four hours straight on a flight to California.  I know, crazy!

In 4th Grade *NSYNC was my first concert.  My mom and my two best friends mom's planned the trip and surprised us the afternoon of the concert.  We had no idea!  They picked us up early from school and when we got to the car their was a huge *NSYNC poster and a sign that read NSYNC here we come!  It was so fun.

My favorite boy band obsession is sadly no longer preforming together (maybe one day).  But, lucky for all of us crazy fans, Justin Timberlake and the rest of the guys are still around.  Today is Justin's birthday so that is where this trip down memory lane is coming from.

Happy Birthday JT!

to wear or not to wear.

White.

Should you wear it after Labor Day and before Easter?  I say sometimes.

I live in Florida and here people don't exactly follow the rules.  I constantly see people walking around campus in their white pants or shorts with white sandals on and I think to myself that is way too summary of an outfit for December or January.

However, I do think it all depends on how and when you wear your white.  Personally, I think Labor Day is way too early to stop wearing all my white clothes.  In the South September and October are still very warm most of the time, so I tend to wear white through September, but stop wearing white shoes, shorts and capris in October.  Typically, in the beginning or middle of October I clean-out my closet (at school) and take all my summer clothes home.  This clean-out usually includes many sundresses (particularly the ones that are white or super bright), as well as my critter shorts and anything else that tends to scream summer time.  But, depending when Easter falls I don't always wait until after Easter Sunday to start wearing my summer clothes again.  Depending on the weather I usually start wearing my summer clothes in March or April.

Now don't get me wrong, in Florida the Fall tends to be very warm and almost summer-like, so I do still dress appropriately for the weather of the day, I simply try to make a transition into Fall/Winter whether or not the weather does.

Wearing white jeans with a bright pink flowery shirt and sandals is not a Fall/Winter outfit (no matter how warm it is outside!).  But, wearing white jeans with boots and a darker top or jacket is okay.  You can also opt for Winter Whites.  The key is to look in the mirror and say to yourself 'does this look like the middle of summer?', if the answer is yes then think twice about it.

Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting, well I kinda am.

weekend overview.

I had the greatest weekend.

I started by going to the gymnastics meet.  It was so fun! The Gators did a fabulous job.

Then my parents came up and brought my doggie for a sleepover at my apartment.

We went to lunch at Blue Gill...yummy!

After lunch went to the basketball game and the Gators won!

After the game we went to dinner at Dragonfly and boy was it delicious.  Then Mom and I (along with some other people that we went to dinner with) went to the piano bar.  It was pretty funny.  The piano bar is a lot of fun, but a little raunchy (which I could do without).

joyful noise.

Over the weekend Dad came up to go to the basketball game.  While he was here we went to see Joyful Noise.  It was a great movie! We laughed, cried, danced along to the music.  It was a little long, but only because they sing every song all the way through.  Dolly Parton and Queen Latifa are always fun to watch and the two of them together makes for quite a few laugh-out-loud moments.

Here is the trailer.

Watch it!

Organize, Me : Back to School

I too have always prided myself on the fact that organization is one of my strengths.  However, this semester I have been a bit slow to get organized (and stay organized).  I don't know what my problem is, but I decided I need to fix it.  So, today I don't have classes and I haven't started back to work at the UAA so today is organization day.  I am pumped and ready to be back to myself.  To the naked eye most people would say I was incredibly organized.  My room is relatively clean and organized, but my school life just hasn't gotten to that point yet.

Typically, I start every semester by buying my books and school supplies (or reusing supplies from the previous semester if I can...Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!).  I purchased my first textbook yesterday (over a week after the semester started...EEK!).  I have seriously done the bare minimum for all my classes for the past week.  I have been oversleeping and watching entirely too much TV...I'm not sure what has gotten into me.  On the up-side I have been to the gym six times since I have been back at school, this is a record for me (and it's one of my goals for 2012).

Now that I have sufficiently vented about my overall laziness this semester, I figured I would give you guys a few tips on my I usually stay organized and on top of things during the semester.  I am a Senior in college so after four years of high school and now almost four years of college I feel like I have finally gotten into a good routine for studying and keeping up with homework and assignments.  I got a few of these tips from The College Prepster about a year ago, she is seriously so incredibly helpful (sorry if I seem obsessed, I promise I'm not crazy).

I organize my documents on my Mac by semester and then by class.  I think it's a good idea to keep files from previous semesters to refer to in future classes (particularly files from previous classes I've taken in my major).  It is very helpful to have old notes and Power Point slides to refer to from other professors during assignments or preparation for exams (since professors often expect you to remember what you've already learned and we all know that is hard to do sometimes).  It is also a lot easier to keep files stored on a computer than it is to have a hard copy in a folder on your desk.

It is important to always know what you have coming up in all your classes so that you're never blindsided by assignments, projects, quizzes or exams.  I keep up with assignments on three calendars.  I have a monthly dry-erase calendar on my wall by my desk so I can always see what I have coming up during the next few weeks.  I keep a second calendar on my Mac, which also transfers to my iPad and iPhone so I always have it with me (iCloud is seriously the best invention ever!).  My third calendar is a Lilly Pulitzer planner.  It is so cute and fun to write in and I can look at it without my professors thinking that I'm texting in class.  It is so helpful to have things written down in multiple locations so I know that I won't miss anything important.

I am so happy to be organized and back into school mode.  Being organized always helps me lower my stress-level throughout the semester.

winter coats.

It's winter time, which means it's coat time.  Here are a few coats that are under $200 for the winter.  I love coats.  I have a lot of coats and I live in Florida, so they do not get a lot of use.  I have a dressy black coat, a red coat and a few short casual coats.  It's a little insane how many jackets I have.

Here she is.

Miss America 2012.

Last night was the Miss America pageant.  I am not usually very interested in pageants.  I don't really understand the whole pageant world.  However, the Miss America pageant is always fun to watch.

Miss Wisconsin was crowned Miss America 2012.

It's Back!

Dance Moms premiered last night.  All the talent and drama is back and I couldn't be happier.  This is my guilty pleasure.  I don't know why, but I just love this show! If you haven't seen it check it out!

Happy Birthday Duchess Catherine!

Today is Kate Middleton's 30th Birthday or as she is now known Duchess Catherine.

If you cannot tell from my previous blog posts, I am obsessed with the royal family.  I was so excited when Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement in 2010 and I was even more excited in April when I could watch their wedding on TV.  Their wedding was so beautiful.  The new generation of the royal family sure knows how to plan a party.

Happy Birthday Duchess Catherine!

First of the Lasts.

Tomorrow is the first day of my last spring semester at UF.  I cannot believe that my time as an undergrad at UF is going to be coming to and end very soon.  Part of me wants to fast-forward and be done with school and another part of me never wants school to end.  I'm conflicted.  I want to be a kid forever, yet I want to be an adult now.  It's hard to know what I want and when I want it to happen.

Have I confused you yet?! Well, I'm equally as confused as you are.

Here are a few pictures from Freshman year, when life was less confusing!

Hope everyone has a great start to their semester!

Goals for 2012.

Happy New Year!

2012 has arrived and I can hardly believe it.  When I graduated from high school in 2008 I thought 2012 seemed light-years away, but yet it has arrived.  I am sure this year will bring new adventures, new friends, and hopefully a new job (when I graduate in December).

Goals for 2012

1. Eat Healthier

2. Workout more often

3.  Don't wear the same outfit within a week (or two is the ultimate goal)

4. Read more books and blogs

5. Stay up-to-day in all my classes

6.  Stay on a budget

7.  Go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time Sunday night - Friday morning

8.  Cook food at home more often

9. Blog as often as possible

10. Begin networking for after graduation

11.  Start a folder about career planning

These are goals not resolutions therefore this is not a make it or break it list.  This is simply a list of things I would like to accomplish within the next year and hopefully make some of these things into habits.

Thank you all for following my blog in 2011.
I hope 2012 is an even better year for everyone.
